Our Commitment

VetFIRE LLC is committed to ensuring that our website and calculators are accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, and continuously work to improve the user experience for all visitors.

As a site built for veterans, we recognize that many users may have service-connected disabilities. Accessibility is not an afterthought — it is a core part of how we build our tools.

Measures We Take

VetFIRE LLC takes the following measures to ensure accessibility:

  • Skip navigation links on all pages so keyboard users can jump directly to main content
  • Semantic HTML with proper heading hierarchy, landmarks, and ARIA attributes where needed
  • Keyboard navigability throughout all calculators, forms, and interactive elements
  • Color contrast ratios that meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA requirements (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
  • Focus indicators visible on all interactive elements for keyboard and switch-device users
  • Responsive design that works across devices, screen sizes, and orientations
  • Text resizing support — content remains readable and functional at up to 200% zoom
  • Form labels and error messages programmatically associated with their inputs
  • Cookie consent dialog with focus trapping and keyboard support

Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some areas of the site may not be fully accessible. Known limitations include:

  • Some calculator result charts may not be fully accessible to screen readers. Text-based summaries are provided alongside visual charts where possible.
  • Third-party content (Google Fonts, embedded links) may not meet our accessibility standards.
  • Older blog posts may have accessibility issues that have not yet been remediated.

We are actively working to identify and resolve these issues.

Compatibility

VetFIRE is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies: screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS), keyboard-only navigation, voice control software, and screen magnification tools. We support current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on desktop and mobile.
